A Message from the Chairman, Advisory Board, TheseAbilities Foundation

Greetings, It brings me immense joy to extend a warm welcome to all as we embark on the momentous journey of the re-launch of TheseAbilities Foundation.

Our organization stands resolute in its commitment to advocating for the rights of individuals living with disabilities, with a profound emphasis on fostering inclusion.

At TheseAbilities, we firmly believe that equal opportunities serve as the cornerstone for excellence, particularly for those navigating life with disabilities within our communities.

I express heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for gracing us with his esteemed presence at this significant event.

Your endorsement and support, exemplified in the 2016 Disability Report on Inclusion, continue to inspire and propel our endeavors at TheseAbilities Foundation.

This re-launch stands as a poignant tribute to our esteemed founder, Adeboye Abioye, whose visionary leadership continues to guide us forward.

In honoring his legacy, we renew our commitment to advancing the cause and mission he held dear. As stakeholders and partners in our collective pursuit of creating safer and more inclusive environments for fellow citizens with disabilities, our collaboration becomes increasingly imperative.

Let us unite in our efforts to actualize the vision set forth by enabling laws such as the Special People's Law in Lagos State.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has demonstrated its dedication to legal protection and security for individuals living with disabilities, as evidenced by its ratification of the ILO Convention 159.

These legal frameworks underscore our collective responsibility to recognize and harness the abilities inherent within disabilities.

TIn today's technologically-driven world, we have an unparalleled opportunity to transform potential into reality.

By leveraging education, skills, knowledge, and competencies, individuals living with disabilities contribute significantly to our nation's progress and prosperity.

Therefore, we earnestly urge the expeditious consideration of the Nigeria Disability Rights Bill by the National Assembly and subsequent assent by the President. Together, let us advocate for legislative measures that uphold the dignity and rights of every individual, regardless of ability.

As collaborators in this noble endeavor, I invite you to join us in our renewed commitment to effecting sustainable change. Together, let us cultivate a fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership in service to individuals living with disabilities in Nigeria.

In the profound words of our late founder, Adeboye Abioye, "Disabilities? TheseAbilities - It's a Mind Thing!"

Our Vision

To accelerate accessibility for and the inclusion of persons with disabilities in communities.

About the Founder
Adeboyejo Abioye was not born with a disability. However, he quickly overcame the disability and the emotional, mental and physical limitations, describing it as a mind thing. #itsamindthing.

Himself being an example of abilities in disability, he coined Theseabilities as the name of the organization he founded to advance the cause of inclusion for persons with disabilities.

The former bank professional and HR consultant devoted his time, resources, and lifetime to promoting and enhancing the dignity of persons with disabilities.

This, he demonstrated with great passion contributing to the signing into law, the Lagos State Special Peoples' Law, the passage of the then bill on support for persons with disabilities in Nigeria
